The Grand River Roofing Company
It's always a good practice to perform a thorough inspection of
the roof and exterior of the home to determine whether the
existing roofing must be removed before applying a new system.
The inspection should always include:

1) Checking the condition of the shingles. You are looking for
evidence of blistering, buckling, loose or missing shingles,
severe moss or debris build-up.

2) Checking for evidence of leakage in the attic area.  Evidence
of water damage will appear as black patches on rafters or the
underside of the roof decking, wet or packed insulation, or wood
that looks soft and powdery, which is an advanced form of dry
rot.  If signs of rotting or moisture are evident, it is best to
remove existing roofing and repair any damage before applying
the new system.

3) Checking any areas that require flashing such as valleys,
chimneys, vent pipes, etc. for evidence of water damage.
